At Palitree you know each other as a guest and host either personally or you are connected through mutual acquaintances. This networking will help you to always settle the topic "Cancellation" amicably by already talking with each other in the run-up to a cancellation or exchanging information via the Palitree message function.
Cancellations will be processed automatically, unless "individual cancellation agreement" or "manual payment processing" has been set for the object. In these two cases guest and host have to agree on the cancellation individually and bilaterally.
Our cancellation conditions only regulate complete cancellations up to and including the start of the journey. Start of the journey is the day of the first booked overnight stay from 0.00 o'clock, according to time at the location of the object. If travel parameters change after the start of the journey, if the journey is cancelled or not carried out as planned in any other way, it is necessary for you to regulate the handling of these changes individually and bilaterally with each other. You can use the message function of the Palitree platform to do this. Automatic processing is not possible.
In this context we would also like to point out that your bookings can be reopened for processing by the host up to 21 days before the start of your journey. This function is helpful in order to correct any mutually agreed changes to the trip, e.g. earlier or later arrival and departure, at an early stage and to avoid cancellations or individual and bilateral arrangements.
As the host, inform yourself about the cancellation laws and regulations in your country. In particular, the amount to be withheld by the guest should be proportionate to the damage you would normally expect. If, for example, you manage to re-rent your property in the cancelled period, you should consider paying your guest back part of the rent that may have been retained.
Cancellation by guest
As a guest, you can cancel a booking, taking into account the Palitree-Terms of Use as well as the cancellation conditions applicable to the object at the time of booking, selected by the host in the advertisement and described below (flexible, moderate, strict, individual). Additional costs for the final cleaning will always be refunded at 100%.

- If you do not wish to apply Palitree's suggested standard cancellation conditions, you can agree your individual cancellation conditions outside the platform.
- Palitree arranges in this case a back completion of the reservation, however without refund of service fees already received from the guest.
Cancellation by host
As a host you have a
special responsibility for your guests. If you are considering cancelling a booking of your guest, be aware that this can have a significant impact on the guest, for example if holiday trips expire, which are usually booked long in advance and for which not infrequently considerable follow-up costs, e.g. for flights, arise. In any case you should coordinate with your guest and explain this step well.
You may cancel a booking in accordance with the Palitree-Terms of Use and the Cancellation Conditions in effect at the time of booking and set out below.

Individual
- If you do not wish to apply Palitree's standard cancellation conditions, you are welcome to agree your individual cancellation conditions outside the platform.
- Palitree arranges in this case the reversal of the booking and charges the host from the 21st day before start of travel a service fee of 5% of the transaction price.
